Space Construction
Lunar Metropolis is one of the outcomes of a research and development initiative funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Mitacs, in partnership with Matrix Engineering & Trading Ltd. (MET). The project aims to develop advanced space construction systems to support human exploration of the Moon and beyond, based on modular construction technology, in-situ resource utilization, and an innovative interlocking design
Energy, Arctic and Dual-use Applications
Engineering for extreme environments, particularly in space, yields advancements that can be directly applied to resource-limited regions on Earth, such as the Arctic or deserts. Matrix GEMINI will bring these space-engineered solutions to Earth to enhance energy and utility transmission, as well as sovereignty infrastructure, in the Arctic.
Remote Communities
With modular construction solutions, Matrix GEMINI’s goal is to enhance the quality of life in Canada’s northern communities by reducing dependency on long supply chains and simplifying the logistics of building through modular construction technology to develop comfortable living spaces and water pipelines for clean drinking water.
Mining and Natural Disaster Recovery
With modular pipes and panels, Matrix GEMINI provides rapid and adaptable infrastructure solutions for mining operations and natural disaster recovery, including access roads and temporary shelter applications. These modular systems enable quick deployment, reduce downtime, and ensure resilient access in challenging environments.
Aging Infrastructure Upgrade
Through the integration of advanced modular pipes and panels, Matrix GEMINI is redefining how aging infrastructure is renewed and replaced. Designed for highway and railway river crossings, as well as underground and underwater pipelines, these systems can be used jointly with robotic assembly for precise and autonomous installation in challenging environments.
